Launched in spring 2018, the Watch Photo Awards reward the best watch photographs on six specific themes, every month from February to July. The WPA jury first selects a shortlist of ten from the photos submitted each month, based on the criteria of creativity, revelance of the subject and technical excellence. These ten photos are published by the WPA’s media partners. The public then votes for the best of the ten shortlisted photos, and the photographer is awarded first prize (e.g. in February, it wass a one-week cruise for two with Dream Yacht Charter. Have a look at the 2018 prizes here. )
The photographers of the ten photos shortlisted each month are invited to the inauguration of the WPA photo exhibition at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva, where all sixty photos will be on display. This exhibition takes place alongside that of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
The winning entries from the six monthly competitions are then put to a final public vote to decide the best photo of the year. The winning photographer is invited to become of member of the jury for the following year’s contest, and is awarded the WPA trophy.
