About the Watch Photo Awards

The Watch Photo Awards are the first annual international watch photography competition open to amateur watch lovers and professionals alike. With a specific timing and a different theme, awards will be given to the photos that best meet the criteria of creativity, technical accomplishment and relevance to the theme. All the winning photos will be published by our media partners, as well as being featured in a special exhibition at the end of the year in Geneva, before travelling to other cities.

Entries and Voting

The competition is open to all (both amateurs and professionals). The photographed watch must belong to the participant and must be a mechanical watch (automatic or manual), unless it is a ladies’ watch, in which case quartz is permitted. Each month will have a different theme. Candidates must upload their photo in high definition before 11.59 AM (Swiss time) on the last day of the month to the watch-photo-awards.com website (WPA). Each participant may enter no more than one photograph. Each participant must complete the brief entry form to validate their photo submission. Every photograph that meets the criteria will be stored on WPA, where they will become part of the first virtual museum of watch photography. Each month, the jury selects the ten best photos, which are then published on WPA and its partner sites. The winner for the month is chosen by a public vote.

The author of the photo with the most votes is declared the winner for that month, and receives a prize donated by one of the WPA sponsors.

Awards

The authors of the ten photos selected each month by the expert jury are notified by the panel, and their photos are published in some of the world’s most trusted watch media publications. As well as being shared on the WPA site, the shortlisted photos are all published on WorldTempus.com, and some may also be taken up by our media partner magazines and websites.

The winning photographers will receive an invitation to attend the opening of the commemorative exhibition of the 20 selected photographs at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève at the end of October.

The author of the photograph that wins the public vote each month is awarded an amazing prize. The best photo of the year is decided by a separate public vote. The winner is awarded the WPA trophy, and is invited to sit on the panel for the following year.
